Description: I wanted to request this feature but "File an enhancement request" lead me here. In an effort to make saving one's work more of a habit I think we should have a counter next to the save icon that shows how much work a user has added to their document since the last save. It should start in kilobytes and then increase to megabytes. Actual Results: a Expected Results: a Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: It should be easier for end users to make a feature request.
Thanks for that idea. I've changed it to enhancement and added Design-Team in cc for further input and decision. My own opinion: I don't understand the need of such a feature. And if we implement it, I would expect in in statusbar or document statistics.
Agree with Dieter. If we add this information it has to go into the rework for bug 123083. But could you please tell us why this information is needed? Something like "If I change only a few characters after Save I don't want to overwrite the intermediate state because the text might not be relevant. But once I have entered about 100 words it needs to be saved as I'm afraid of loosing work." Please also explain what "new data" means. Are changes to the formatting not worth to save? Please keep in mind that simplicity is prime. We show changes binary meaning the icon is different, the statusbar has an information, and the titlebar too if you change the document.
