Description michael 2021-02-10 11:23:55 UTC
To reproduce:

1. Ensure you are using LibreOffice’s built-in file dialogs, NOT the system ones.
2. Add an extra drive with a new drive letter (external USB drive should work).
3. Launch any LO application, open a file dialog and add a path on the external drive as a favorite.
4. Remove the external drive.
5. Try to remove the favorite referring to the now-removed drive.

Expected result:

An error message that this path is not available, possibly with an option to remove it from the favorites list, or some other option to remove favorites even when the path cannot be opened.

Actual result:

Clicking on a favorite with a non-existent drive letter causes a crash. (Haven’t tried this with a nonexistent path on a valid drive letter; also no experience on non-Windows OSes that don’t use drive letters.) However, removing a Favorites entry requires me to select it first, then click the minus sign. I then get a crash notice, but the file dialog stays on the screen and does not respond to input, until I kill the task.

Further information:

I tried this on Writer. I don’t remember which other applications I have tried; probably affects all.

For anyone else affected, as a workaround:

Open AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\registrymodifications.xcu (in your user dir) with a text editor. Look for an XML tag:

<prop oor:name="FilePickerPlacesUrls"/>

and change the paths in its contents to valid ones.
