I have many Writer texts with very many pictures embedded as links. Embedding and changing names of pictures worked well using LO5.4.7. Unfortunately there are problems using LO_6.4.4_Win_x64.msi or LO_7.0.0.1_Win_x64.msi on Win 7 pro 64bit notebooks. When I double click on the first picture the menu comes up and "Dateiname" will be shown. When I edit this name from hp214a_bedienfeld.png to hp214a_bedienfeld2.png which does not exist no picture is shown then - only the frame with the name inside is shown. When I change back the name to hp214a_bedienfeld.png unfortunately the original picture does not show up again. Also using the "Durchsuchen" Button and choosing the file name hp214a_bedienfeld.png from there does not bring the picture up again. The picture seems to be lost. The frame still will be shown. But no way to get the picture again into this frame. When LO is closed and reopened the frame is lost. Its bad when the frame is lost or has to be deleted because the frame already had the right size and format. The picture then newly has to be added and all the format changes have to be done again. This loss of format is really time consuming when working on many pictures. One does not like running through all the menus again. The format should not go lost this way. This problem was not at all there when using LO5.4.7. So the above sentence from Bug ID 120372 "Embedded pictures disappear from Writer when documents are opened." seems to be true in my case. I really hope this problem can be seen by others and solved.

Matthias, is it a duplicate of bug 133201?
Hello Dieter, the description looks quite similar. Especially the one from Robert. but there seem to be differences: "Then when reopening the file, only its empty frame is shown, because the image can't be found at their original set location." I have seen the problem that the picture was still shown at first - but when the document saved and then reopened no picture shown any longer and also no frame. Simply lost frame ! The problem was not there in LO5.4.7. I did not test LO6.3.5.2. But in LO6.4.4 it clearly was there. I really hope that there will be a solution because I do have very many pictures and sometimes I have to change them. Best, Matthias
