Description Albert Acer 2021-02-18 21:03:53 UTC
Description:
When I am testing LibreOffice 7.1.1 RC1, in Spanish, and I try to change the icon themes via extension, in the icon styles configuration options, I find that the descriptions of those themes are shown in English and not in Spanish as they should appear. This affects all Spanish LO 7.1 and 7.1.1 RC1 applications.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice Writer, Calc, Impress or Draw 7.1 or 7.1.1 RC1, Spanish
   Version.
2. Apply Click on the Tools Menu ("Herramientas" en español).
3. Apply Click on Options ("Opciones" en español).
4. On the left side, expand the first branch corresponding to LibreOffice,
and then apply click on the "Ver" option.
5. On the right side, in the Icon Style item, click on the button or icon
corresponding to "Add more icon themes via extension", whose description
or comment needs to be translated into Spanish, as you can see in the
   screenshot of screen attached today.
6. Observe all the names and descriptions corresponding to the icon
extensions, which appear in English instead of being fixed in Spanish.
In this scenario is where we can see the lack of translation into
   Spanish.

Actual Results:
The names and descriptions corresponding to the icon extensions, are shown in English and not in Spanish as they should be. The Spanish translation is missing for each of those strings.

Expected Results:
Fix Spanish translation for all those strings.

I think this Bug should be assigned to Adolfo Jayme.

For "Add more icon themes via extension", I can reproduce this.

https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-master/cuimessages/es/?offset=1&q=+note%3AStBQN&sort_by=-priority%2Cposition&checksum=

I can reproduce the rest too but it seems a different pb:
1) url are on English part (https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/high-contrast-icon-theme) instead of Spanish.
2) even Spanish urls seem untranslated (see https://extensions.libreoffice.org/es/extensions/show/oxygen-icon-theme)

Adolfo: thought you might be interested in this one.

About "Add more icon themes via extension"

what about: "Añadir más icono temas vía extensiones" ?
(or "iconos temas" ?)
Comment 6 Albert Acer 2021-07-23 20:21:34 UTC
No, the correct thing for us native Spanish speakers is:

"Añadir más temas de iconos vía extensión"

Done.
For "extensión" would need plural since I saw these:
sfx2/messages.po-4992-#: sfx2/uiconfig/ui/templatedlg.ui:689
sfx2/messages.po-4993-msgctxt "templatedlg|online_link|tooltip_text"
sfx2/messages.po:4994:msgid "Add more templates via extension"
sfx2/messages.po-4995-msgstr "Añadir más plantillas vía extensiones"
sfx2/messages.po-4996-
--
svx/messages.po-19161-#: svx/uiconfig/ui/sidebargallery.ui:373
svx/messages.po-19162-msgctxt "sidebargallery|btnMoreGalleries"
svx/messages.po:19163:msgid "Add more galleries via extension"
svx/messages.po-19164-msgstr "Añadir más galerías vía extensiones"
svx/messages.po-19165-

but you know better than me since you're a native Spanish speaker, not me! :-)
Comment 8 Albert Acer 2021-07-24 01:03:09 UTC
Yes, Julien, You are right because if for one icon theme ("tema de iconos") one extension is required, then for two or more icon themes ("temas de iconos") several extensions are required.
So the proper translation to be correctly understood by us native Spanish speakers should be expressed in plural like this:

"Añadir más temas de iconos vía extensiones"

Ilmari/Xisco/Heiko: any idea how/where we can translate descriptions for icon themes extensions?

https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/home/using-this-site-as-an-extension-maintainer/

See the section Translating your extension entries

The extension owner has to do it in the Silverstripe admin interface.

I've taken a look at oxygen theme, downloaded the oxt, renamed in into zip, unzipped it, I found no specific author, just "The LibreOffice Design Team".
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Team then searched about "oxygen", nothing.
Anyway, if for each translation of each extension, people must contact the author of the extension, it won't be easy to get some results. I don't if it's possible and don't know at Silverstripe, but it would be great to link Weblate to the translation part of Silverstripe.

To all of you: please excuse me. It was not my intention to put you in trouble. I thought this could be solved in Weblate.
