Description colburndebby 2021-04-10 13:15:22 UTC
Libre Office Calc crashed when trying to save a previously created Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to a new name by backspacing over the .xlsx so it could save under a LibreOffice extension.

 The problem also occurs when I change .docx to .odt extension

You cannot change an extension by just renaming the file in the filesystem. It IS an xlsx format. If you want it in ods format, you need to open and save-as (or download from google as .ods).

The video shows
1.) a file created in a google docs, and saved to downloads as test.xlsx
2.) the user using Nautilus to rename the file to test.ods in downloads
3.) opening the file from an app-image libreoffice and getting errors - not a crash.

@Justin L,
Thanks for the correction.
