Description f.carbone80 2021-04-24 11:30:17 UTC
Description:
LibreOffice 7.0.5.2 (x64) is "jerky" (slow) compared to version 6.4.7 I used before. I find this version not very fluid when I open any document: new or already saved on my computer.
Yet my laptop has an Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @2.80GHz, with 32 GB of RAM, and an SSD memory where running both the operating system (Windows 10 Home edition) and LibreOffice.

I had also noticed this problem in previous versions of LibreOffice 7.0.x, and in fact I had uninstalled them to go back to version 6.4.7. With the previous versions, however, the phenomenon was much more pronounced, while now it is already better, but it is not the top.

Actual Results:
So what happens is that the general use of the Libreoffice software is slow, in many of the basic operations I perform and not in a specific operation or function. It is slow as a whole.

Expected Results:
Instead LibreOffice should run smoothly when opening, or when opening a new sheet, or when switching between documents. Even when I select an entire paragraph, it shouldn't jerk, but be fluid.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
No other.

Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps?

Also you can give a try at 7.1.2 version.
Comment 2 Telesto 2021-04-26 21:03:58 UTC
Is it the GUI or also the operation itself?
Comment 3 f.carbone80 2021-04-27 18:40:40 UTC
The basic operations are ok.

I encounter the problem when, for example, I want to select an entire paragraph, or if I drag the entire window of LibreOffice: for example if I drag the window down, or up, etc.

In these cases I notice a certain slowness in carrying out the operations.

Maybe it was related to Skia. However, several versions have been released after 7.0. Could you test with 7.3 and say how it behaves?
