re-tried, install in a dir with an old 7.2 ver. fails, a fresh install in a new dir with ver. of 2021-05-08 works. leave this bug open until 'overpasting installations' work again, as they had worked before (prior may 2021).

Happy to do so as temporally measure.

However, I didn't do any advanced testing.. So only know by fact that got a crash afterI overwrite current installation. (5 may) with 6 may update

Uninstall/reinstall did work. Also with old profile.

However, no clue where it goes wrong. Or if this being an incident or something structural. Did someone make installer changes?

Could you please try to reproduce it with a master build from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the master build

old dir which was long time in use for master builds and worked well, name 'c:\'path'\lodev_7_2_0_0_a0_tst', contains some changes in options, individual path for 'UserInstallation=' in bootstrap.ini, language for the UI, etc.:
'overinstalling' ver. from 2021-04-30 -> ok,
'overinstalling' ver. from 2021-05-01 -> not ok,
'overinstalling' ver. from 2021-05-11 -> not ok,

fresh virgin dir in same path, name 'c:\'path'\lodev_7_2_0_0_a0_tst2':
fresh installing ver. from 2021-05-08 -> ok,
made similar changes as in above dir,
'overinstalling' ver. from 2021-05-11 -> ok,

fresh virgin dir in same path, name 'c:\'path'\lodev_7_2_0_0_a0_tst3':
fresh installing ver. from 2021-04-30 -> ok,
started once, no changes to settings,
'overinstalling' ver. from 2021-05-11 -> ok,

'ok' means starting of scalc works, produces 'small Libreoffice banner with progress indicator', sometimes two times with a break of about two seconds, and then a calculation sheet appears,

'not ok' means starting of scalc produces 'small Libreoffice banner with progress indicator', mostly two times with a break of about two seconds, and then nothing appears,

Hmm.. older versions did install the full list of interface languages. In my case it apparently only installed Dutch since 8 may (removing English?) Hypothesis (needs fact checking). While my settings where pointing to English.

sounds like a possible cause, where can it be checked?
