I created a letterhead template in Writer and saved to a .docx and .dotx format for my client. I didn't know the client uses Apple/Mac, new this year and likely on MS Office 365 for Mac. They can't type in the document - how do I save it for their use?
Please attach a sanitized test file to reproduce the problem. If you are also using MS Office, can you check how the file behaves for you.

Tested on macOS 11.4 and LO 7.1.3.2 and was able to edit document just fine. Can you double check with LO 7.1.3.2 from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ Version: 7.1.3.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 47f78053abe362b9384784d31a6e56f8511eb1c1 CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 10.16 | 11.4; UI render: default; VCL: osx Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE Calc: threaded
The document can be edited just fine in Word for Mac 16.49 (21050901). However, in Office365 online, the document opens as displayed in the enclosed screenshot, with the footer image overlying the header image, and seemingly not being editable. This is due to the "inline" attribute being assigned to the header and footer when loaded into Word Online. Word Online only has the following image placement attributes: Aligned with text (inline) Left justified Right justified Behind text In front of text This appears to be a particular behaviour of Word Online, as the on-disk version of Word for Mac (version 16.49) doesn't show this behaviour and displays the document correctly when loaded. FWIW, the online loaded document can be edited, but it is disconcerting for the user. What it does show though, is that one can not assume that a document in docx format which displays normally in the on-disk version of Word will be similarly displayed in the online version of Word.

Wondering if this is notourbug as the problem lies with Office 365 behavior over which LO has no control.
I was wondering that also. It might be easier to take out a subs for MS Office 365 and create the letterhead for the client, and I'm not sure that can be read across to Mac since I'm on a Windows. Theoretically, it shouldn't matter, but I've worked with MS Office in some format since 1992 - somewhere, it tends to matter.
