Created attachment 172366 [details] Difficult to spot the found search term when cells contain a lot of text When searching text the whole cell is outlined (or marked when using "Find All"). If the cell contains a lot of text it can be difficult to find the search text in there (e.g. searching for "test" in the attachment). If the found search text where highlighted in some way it would help a lot. In Writer the found search text is even marked and can be immediately modified; I am not sure whether in Calc that should be done - it would change current behaviour significantly. I would already be happy if there was just a temporary highlighting of the searched/replaced text in the cell, with no influence on the way cells are marked with the search/replace function. If the cell is so large that the marked part is outside the visible area - bad luck ;-) I would not mind if that were only available using the Expert Configuration and having to triple sign a waiver that it might mess up the screen representation of the data :-) Admitting to low priority, I could only find https://stackoverflow.com/questions/61830718/libreoffice-calc-how-to-highlight-text-within-cell-during-search (but that could be my poor Google-fu). So apparently demand is low and it seems to me the complexity of the enhancement is high.
+1 but I'm not sure it's possible
Created attachment 179229 [details] Calc vs Writer The expectation is probably to not highlight the whole cell but do the same as in Writer and highlight the text within the cell. Sounds like much effort, if possible at all. And I wonder what happens when the found text is not visible. Guess we have to use the current "fall-back" solution then.
More than one person agrees that this enhancement would be useful. Let's go ahead and mark it as new.
