Description: It would be immensely helpful to the process of editing a drawing to be able to use a predefined hotkey to hide & show the user created ruler guide lines. It is cumbersome and slows the pace of document development when you have to navigate a sub-menu to perform this action. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Created a drawing in Draw that I required rule guide lines for. 2.Reviewed Hotkeys list and did not discover one for hiding and showing ruler guide lines. 3. Actual Results: Submitted request Expected Results: Request reviewed at some time in the future Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.0.0.3 (x64) Build ID: 8061b3e9204bef6b321a21033174034a5e2ea88e CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
Believe UNO command to assign via Tools -> Customize on the 'Keyboard' tab is ".uno:HelplinesMove" with a label of "Helplines While Moving" When assigned to an available keyboard shortcut it will toggle the mode's button action already present on the Standard toolbar and display the positioning help lines for a selected draw object when it is being repositioned. Isn't that what you are asking?
The result is very close to the outcome I would like to see as a result of my feature request. This is successful in toggling on/off the "Helplines While Moving" toolbar button as a keyboard shortcut. This also does hide the guides (Help Lines), but repeating the execution of shortcut does not reverse this action and "show" them again. That's the core of my request. My request is to have a switchable hotkey assigned for this task, and to have be added as a default.
EDIT: For clarification, "Show them again" refers to showing the Guides(Help Lines) and not the toolbar button.
Setting the shortcut for the UNO command does toggle the mode. Set the shortcut. Observe the Draw -> Standard toolbar. The 'Helplines While Moving' button will toggle enabled and disabled with each click of the shortcut assigned. Correctly functions with draw object pre-selected or not. Both enabling and disabling the helplines mode applies from the shortcut assigned. Sorry, with the dearth of available shortcut keys to use--it does not make sense to preload shortcuts for Toolbar buttons that are always available. => WFM and IMHO a clear WF as enhancement.
Switching on requires me to click on the ruler to show the previous helplines. It's not updated immediately. (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #5) > Switching on requires me to click on the ruler to show the previous > helplines. It's not updated immediately. > Currently, the help lines will "only" show when the Draw object is selected with l-mouse click and held entering object drag/move mode. But it would be useful, if the help lines could be toggled shown for a selected Draw object- 1.) to check its alignment, or 2.) to position object with <Shift>+<cursor L,R,U,D> movement.
Obviously we are talking about different helplines. Me about the sticky helpline that you pull off the rulers (not immediately shown on toggle on), you when moving an object (only shown on move). And the OP requests a shortcut, which is a different topic. The feature is clearly an option that you enable once per session, at max. It's nothing that every couple of minutes need to be activated. A shortcut is therefore not required by average users. We have a very prominent toolbar icon and customization of shortcuts is pretty simple. So I concur with Stuart's verdict.
