* Modify a style so it has a list style applied (not direct formatted of course)
* Remove the list per Numbering Off (shift+ctrl+f12)
* Find the last attribute disabled, meaning overwritten but it has no successor

Potential solution is to show the non-format string "Numbering Off" under paragraph direct formatting.

Unfortunately we cannot repeat your actions.
Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

Test document

#1: In Writer, open the Stylist at the sidebar
#2: Create a new style, for example "Test"
#3: Modify the style (right click) and set under Outline & Numbering > Numbering style = Numbering 123 (it will be nicely shown in the Styles Inspector/SI)
#4: use Format > List to uncheck this numbered list

This results in a greyed-out Numbering Style in the SI. But it does not show up as direct formatting below.
