Description Satoru Kengaku 2021-08-23 01:22:15 UTC
Description:
Open my password protected .odt file with 7.2.0.4, it shows the header and some lines only, contents are mostly empty.
Tried to change character color, but it was not the cause.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a password protected .odt file
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The header is shown. Some under lines are shown, but the rest is empty.

Expected Results:
My contents should be shown.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
It's OK with 7.1.5.2 (x64)
So I uninstalled 7.2.0.4 and reinstalled 7.1.5.2.

You need to attach sample files, without password which shows (non-personal) content and with password, which shows problem. Write a password.

This is odd, I've created a simple Test file to be shared, and it works fine.

But my real file, which contain very personal info, which cannot be shared, still has the problem.

If I could ever create sample file, which can reproduce the problem, I'll share it here...... but I'm not very optimistic about it.

In the past, a problem with password protected file occurred once with a major upgrade, even though I don't remember when. At that time, I couldn't open a password protected file, if my memory is correct.

At that time, problem was solved after several minor updates.

I tackled the issue from a different angle.

1. I've unlocked the password of the .odt file using 7.1.5.2
2. Using 7.2.0.4, open the file without a password. It turns out mostly empty, even though Writer can count characters and words.

3. Open the .odt file with MS Office 2016. I see no issues, so saved it with .docx
4. Open the .docx file with LibreOffice 7.2.0.4. It opens without any problems.
5. Save the file with a password in .odt. Now I don't have issues.

For your reference I don't close this bug, but please feel free to close this bug if this is a duplicate bug.

This bug has no purpose to stay open without sample.
I set Needinfo again. Please respond *only* if you can provide sample. Or close as InsufficientData.
This doens't have to be a problem with password.
You can replace all characters in file with X (without Track changes).
You should try User Profile Reset /rename user profile as indicated in bug form.
