Description Ian 2021-08-29 10:03:48 UTC
I've used LibreOffice (Writer, Calc) for years with an old and new PC and a new Apple laptop.

When I open an existing document, without fail I get this message:

LibreOffice will attempt to recover the state of the files you were working on before it crashed.

I always save my files prior to closing them. LibreOffice seldom crashes. I have sometimes ignored the message and have sometimes "recovered" the files in question. (The files have always been fine and didn't need recovering.)

I have used several versions of LibreOffice.

Any ideas as to how I can get rid of the message?

Thank you.

Reset your user profile, which look like corrupt in the sense, that it can't delete the recovery information from file "registrymodifications.xcu".

See - https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile and/or use the following procedure:

To reset the user profile perform:

- Start LibreOffice
- Start in **Safe Mode** using `Help -> Restart in Safe Mode` and confirm the restart using button: `Restart`
- Archive your profile expanding `Advanced` (click on the word *Advanced* right above `Help` button) and click `Archive User Profile` button
- Select option `Reset to factory settings`
- Activate `[x] Reset entire user profile`
- Click button `Apply Changes and Restart`
