Description Walter 2021-09-09 00:20:12 UTC
Description:
It would take a most assuming, inconsiderate and UN-caring programmer to do this wholesale without asking or even warning in time to stop.
As long as you have contributors like that, you should hang up any hopes of a good system.
And yes, I prefer my quick notes in NotePad.txt far more than Libre.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.completed redesign
2.
3.

Actual Results:
open any *.txt and open it using libre

Expected Results:
it changed all my *.txt file formats and made Libre the default to open it. Shame!

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
pop-up warning/choice of OK to do such or not or never

Also:
I can no longer open any .txt with NotePad. I f I "cut'n'paste" it shows only garbage. All my notes have been destroyed an a micro second. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Yes if you open a .txt text document with LibreOffice Writer and save it, you will clobber any formatting that may have existed. So don't! Rather, use the Save as and use the native ODF Text document format.

Quit the edit of the .txt and nothing will have been changed in the original Text file.

And if *you* have set LibreOffice Writer as default for .TXT format--just revert the App to Notepad.exe. Choosing as described above...
