Description Viktor 2021-09-11 14:30:34 UTC
Description:
Since 7.2 the menu for "paste special" has been changed.

► I work very much with CALC and this additional menue.
But the new design is a bit unpleasant when used regularly..... Since as it is now it is a bit more tiring on the eye to read/use and more difficult to use.

I've been using 7.2 for quite some time and thought I'd get used to it, but unfortunately that's not the case even after weeks.

If you are using the arrow keys on the keyboard te select the checkboxes you would like to use, the selection jumps from left to right, right to left, and so on.
Also in some "groups" a jump to another group is possible with TAB in some other groups not.

I find the new menu very successful in itself, also because of the presets.

My questions:
A. Is it possible to customize the presets? E.g. only formulas.
→ the respective presettings are dependent on the user/process.

B. could you customize the design if necessary? and make a mixture of 7.1/7.2???

this is the small summary from the Telegram thread "LibreOffice DE".

Heiko has made a quick suggestion or changed something in this menu.
→ see attached file

But the community should vote on whether this will be adjusted in the next build or not.
► therefore this message

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open calc
2. copy something
3. press ctrl+shift+v
4. try only to select (just example!) the formula with the Keyboard
5. try the same with version 7.1.5 and see the diffence in useability

Actual Results:
useability is degraded

Expected Results:
improved useability :)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
not needed

Paste Spercial Menue LO7.3 MASTER 03.10.2021

Hi,

I have tested the new build today:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: c2de581d1943df2d84f2b71817b6a8bee41f0217
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22000; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE
Calc: CL
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

could it be possible to change something.
actual:
◘ When I open the "paste special" menue the 1. "Presets" are selected automaticly
→ so when I have to select only "Formulae" from the "Paste" section I have to jump via TAB to the 2. "Paste".

◘ So it would be more logical to start the "Paste Special" menue with preselected in "Paste" section.

██ furthermore I have a request ☺ ██
actual:
When you use the "Paste special" menue just for copy / paste "Formulae" and use after that one preset example "Values Only" the "paste" section will be reconfigured to "Values Only" settings.
So if you need again only "Formulae" after that you have again to change the checkboxes for that case.

Is there a way, that the use of "presets" don't will have an effect to the other sections??
Reason:
When using LOC often, you often only copy formulas, or just texts without formatting, etc.
And if you do this regularly one after the other, you have to reconfigure the menu permanently.

The primary workflow is to pick one of the presets. Starting at the fine-tuning options makes it cumbersome to reach "Formats Only", for example, via keyboard. And you can use the hotkeys (alt+A..Z) anyway.

Not in the current implementation. But the idea of presets is to make things configurable. And I could imagine to store the configuration at the button. UI wise it might be a context menu on the button with "Save configuration" and "Rename". You would check Numbers and Formulae, right click Values & Formats and save the configuration on this button. Kinda hidden feature though.

If you like the idea please file an enhancement request.
