Description a 2021-10-05 10:51:47 UTC
Description:
create a drop-down list data > validity > cell range (cell range from a different sheet, same file)

then the dropdown list window opens as per length of the longest cell (of the selected range) and showing the window size at the right of the window (not starting from let) making it impossible to show shorter text in the dropdown list, dropdown window alignment should start from left (or configurable), dropdown window's width limit should be configurable (or given by the calc-window size) so that also shorter text be always visible

calc 7.2.1.2
linux 4.15
ubuntu

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create validity list with criteria : cell-range
2.cell-range has different text lengths (short, and very long)
3.open dropdown list to choose value

Actual Results:
the dropdown window showing values to be chosen from, is too large and showint its limit at the right, showing only the end (at the right) of the longest text (of a selected cell-range)

Expected Results:
dropdown vindow (showing allowed values) should align (start) from left so that shorter text is always visible (or be configurable in the validity dialog)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
open GL is not enabled, hardware acceleration on / off

Not reproducible for me with LO 7.2.3.0.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 20.04 x86-64.

How long is the longest string in your validity list?

Status has been set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested information has been provided.

Best regards. JBF
Comment 2 a 2021-12-07 07:31:20 UTC
hello,

one of the longest strings is 799 characters which is the result of joining different cells in order to have a 'item-id&fulldescription cell': validity (value lists) only includes the 'item-id&fulldescription cell' column

thanks
