In Version 7.2.2.1 and 7.2.2.2, the ability to create a floating toolbar from a sub-toolbar disappeared. Clicking on the small triangle next to the icon for a basic shape on the Drawing toolbar opens a sub-toolbar of all the available shapes. At the top of this sub-toolbar was a small line where clicking and dragging created a floating toolbar of the available shapes. In the latest versions of LO, this line has been removed and you can no longer create a floating toolbar. Creating a floating is necessary when you are creating a drawing, for example, a flowchart, and several different flowchart shapes are required. It is a step backward on the usefulness of the Drawing toolbar.
That is indeed a regression. Curious is, that if you copy a registration.xcu from an old installation to the new user folder, than the sub-toolbars can float again.
How do I copy registration.xcu and where is this file located? I am willing to try this solution out, but need help.
My fault: registration.xcu --> registrymodifications.xcu That file is in the 'user' directory. Where your userProfile is located depends on operating system, see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Default_locations
