In Calc's cells, right-clicking inside the cell (in Cell's Edit mode; when there's no spellcheck errors) brings a context menu with: Cut Copy Paste -- Special Character... Insert Field > -- Synonyms > -- Clear Direct Formatting Character... Right-clicking on e.g. hyperlink inside such cell gives additionally "Open/Edit Hyperlink/Edit Hyperlink Location/Remove Hyperlink" related items. OTOH, right-clicking on text in Calc's Formula Bar gives: Cut Copy Paste -- Select All Special Character... and right-clicking on fields does not add any related items. There doesn't seem to be a reason for such a difference; all items (both missing in cell's context menu, and in Formula Bar's one) are relevant in all contexts; additionally, the ones that have accelerators (e.g., Ctrl+; to insert date, or Ctrl+Shift+Space to select all) work in both areas. So the proposal is to unify the context menus as much as possible (as far as I can see, it should be unified completely, but *if* there's a command not suitable for one of the areas, e.g. appearing in some context that I didn't test, the rest should be still unified).
it's more an enhancement than a clear bug I personally don't use the context menu in the Formula bar at all, so it isn't matter for me, but I can understand the Mike's reason
And just to illustrate one possible reason: when telling a user how to manage existing URL using context menus, one would need to emphasize that only right click in one area would work, not in the other. You are working in Formula Bar (e.g., because it's more convenient wgen it's expanded)? You need to switch to the cell to perform this task! (for no apparent reason).
Created attachment 176899 [details] Overview of popup menus So this is all about switching uno:SelectAll and uno:InsertSymbol at the formulabar.xml to be consistent with celledit.xml? Quickly glancing over the popups I see size coming after paste ops but FitCellSize not for drawings/shapes and graphic/images. Would also place transform after this. We agreed on having the properties at last. Not sure if this applies to some items here.
Forgot as well to CC the mailing list, so again: Anything else in Calc's context menus that needs harmonization?
No further input, let's do it. Andreas, I thought you might be interested in this topic.
