Description mrmister001 2021-12-28 14:36:18 UTC
Description:
Writers need special modes to get focus on what they are writing. I have to admit the Microsoft Word Focus Mode is simply fantastic and works really well.
I love free software and I would like to see the same in LibreOffice Writer.
I am a professional translator, so I have some clues I can add to this:
Full Screen Mode is not enough, writers want to change freely the background color in the focus mode. Please, do not mess this up directing us to complex configuration settings. We want to activate the Literary Mode (focus mode) and once there, we want to select the background color we need for the screen and also for the page.

Please, allow us freedom, if I want the background of the screen black and the page white with the text in black it's okay, but if I want something exotic, the background of the screen in yellow, the page in blue and the text in white it's also okay. Writers and translators works under pressure, stressed and in many different conditions. Sometimes we would need a relaxing screen, but perhaps somedays we need a screen waking us a bit more.

Please, allow us to configure the background freely with the colors we want in the Literary Mode (focus mode).

Please, also, allow us to have close to the most necessary icons. Bold, underline, italics, styles, save and special characters like long hyphens, etc. Special characters are extremely important for us, like several kind of hyphens (otherwise we cannot write dialogues), thin spaces (otherwise we cannot write correctly the thousand separators for several languages), etc.

A translator or a writer must to face a monster. The White Page. You have to fill it with creative content and we hate distractions. A lot of icons, unnecessary settings, long steps to perform a function, we really hate that. Please, simplicity and freedom of options to select the colors (for the page and for the background of the screen) and freedom to select the icons we need.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. It is not a bug, it is an enhancement.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Full screen but no options to configure the color of the page and the color of the background for the screen

Expected Results:
Full screen with the possibility to configure (on site) the background color of the page, the background color of the text and the background color of the screen.

Flexibility to place the most important icons

Flexibility to add and configure special characters like long hyphens, thin spaces, etc.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Writers and translators needs this mode ASAP.

I'm sure you know, that you can change this colors in Tools -> Options ->LibreOffice -> Application Colours, but you idea is to have access to that options with an icon in toolbar, correct?

> Flexibility to place the most important icons
Please explain, why flexibility with Tools -> Customise -> Toolbars is not sufficient enough

> Flexibility to add and configure special characters like long hyphens, thin
> spaces, etc.
So this is the idea to give you the possibility to create shortcuts for special characters?
