Description: The ‘Default Paragraph Style’ should be renamed ‘Basic’ (without ‘Style’, like ‘Text_Body’ or ‘First_Line_Indent’), for these reasons: ● it is shorter; ● it will naturally appear at (or near) the top of an alphabetical list of styles; (Currently, Default_Paragraph_Style is ‘forced’ there, before Address; otherwise, it would be stuck between Contents_Heading and Drawing.) ● it IS basic; For example, it serves as parent for Caption, Header and Text_Body Steps to Reproduce: 1.* 2. 3. The "Default Paragraph Style" is just a random style on top of all other (if you don't configure another top-level style). We put some effort recently into the renaming of "Default" into their specific name like "Default Page Style". "Basic" would be another random name. While shorter it is less clear, is associated with macros, and ultimately the opposite of bug 47295 to make Text Body the default - not in terms of what is on top of the tree but what is used for new pagraphs. Putting all together => WF.
concur, -1 => WF

We put some effort recently > into the renaming of "Default" into their specific name like "Default Page > Style". On freshly-installed Writer, A ‘New’ writer document has no template, according to File>Properties>Template: blank. In fact, the document starts with a nameless template which has many styles, including the so-called Default Paragraph Style, which is no more ‘default’ than the others. The nameless template will serve as default template until User defines her|his own (File>templates>Manage; right-click any template, choose Set_as_Default). User could set this new default template to open with any style, eg, Heading1 if he|she often writes chapters in a book; would that make Heading1 the new default style? In conclusion, there is a default template, but there is NO ‘default’ paragraph style. The so-called Default Paragraph Style can be renamed ‘Basic’ (because it serves as parent and grand-parent for many other styles), and should not even have the misleading privilege to be first in an alphabetical list of styles.
But * shorter PS names have no benefit * sorting is relevant only for lists, not the hierarchical view; and B won't be the first anyway * being "Basic" has no implicit meaning, does not mean "parent of something", is misleading with macros in mind, and the renaming would be confusing to long term users * other office suites call it "Default" as well Won't close reopened tickets but UX input has been given.
