How to reproduce:

1. Insert a table of contents. Make sure the "Protected against manual changes" checkbox is ticked. 
2. Left-click on the table of contents.

Expected behavior:
An alert box appears saying you cannot edit this.

Observed behavior:
The application freezes.

Also applies to version 7.2.5.2 (x64)

Please write status of the option LibreOffice Writer / Formatting Aids / Protected areas - Enable cursor. And test with changed status. 
Could be a duplicate of bug 135384.

LibreOffice Writer / Formatting Aids / Protected areas - Enable cursor was unchecked when the error occurred.
After ticking the checkbox, the error does not reoccur.

Yes, it does look very similar to bug 135384. Maybe I could have saved myself the report.
