Description d.lister.home 2022-03-09 19:09:10 UTC
Description:
I cannot find any way at all to clear the list of recent files/items that automatically populates above the dock icon for Libre Office, the list can be seen if you right click on the app icon in the dock ...

Clearing the list of recent items in the app does not clear this list.

Clearing the system wide list of recent items in the apple menu does not clear this list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use Libre Office to open a few different files in the Mac OS version.
2. Right click on Libre Office dock icon
3. See list of files.
4. In Libre Office, clear recent items list.
5. Check again above the app to see the list is still there.
6. In the apple menu, look in recent items and click "clear recent at bottom"
7. Check again above the app to see the list is still there.

Actual Results:
The list of items remains above the icon and does not clear.

Expected Results:
The list of items should be cleared after the "clear items" is run from the app.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The software should clear not only the list of items in the app menus but also the list that is being populated above the dock icon.

What's the MacOs version?
Do you use a Mac containing M1 or Intel processor?
If M1 version, what LO version do you use? "Intel" or "Apple Silicon"

I am running LO on an intel Mac with MacOS Monterey 12.2.1

I believe it was doing the same in earlier versions of Monterey, since I installed in the last month or two...

Apache Open Office seems to have the same issue and I know that has been the case for some time now over various MacOS releases.. as I have run that for longer than LO...

1) Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile to see if recent files list is clean after this ?

2) if 1) ok, could you open file and see that recent files list is not empty anymore then try to empty it again?

Steps taken

1 - Closed LO
2 - Located current user profile and removed it
3 - Restarted machine
3 - Reopened LO
5 - Cleared recent documents list in LO (which was already empty)

Results

The list referred to above the LO icon in the dock remains with he file list as it was before. This process does not resolve the issue.

In doing this I noted a further observation - the list above the app icon is visible if you right click the app icon in the dock regardless of whether to not the app is open or closed.

macOS 13.4.1
LO 7.5.4.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 36ccfdc35048b057fd9854c757a8b67ec53977b6
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 13.4; UI render: default; VCL: osx
Locale: en-US (en_DE.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Clearing recent documents from start center does not clear recent document list when right-clicking dock icon.

This is unexpected since menubar > File > Recent Documents gets clearing with that operation.

-> NEW
