Description goodguy00@zoho.com 2022-04-26 13:00:28 UTC
Description:
in version 7.3.3.1 (which i could not select from the dropdown below): when bringing up the find dialog (undocked), it does not get the focus. writing the query ends up in the document.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ^f to bring up find (undocked?)
2. type something

Actual Results:
typing ends up in the document

Expected Results:
typing should go to the find boxes field

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
(because of this, i immediately downgraded to 7.3.2.2 where this behavior was not present)
might be somewhat related to bug 137287

don't need to treat floating toolbars differently for set-focus
Comment 4 goodguy00@zoho.com 2022-05-20 13:46:04 UTC
just verified with 7.3.4.1: still wrong focus.
Comment 5 Aron Budea 2022-05-29 06:01:54 UTC
Same commit identified as for bug 145287.
Comment 6 Caolán McNamara 2022-06-17 15:21:35 UTC
Proving quite difficult to find a fix that doesn't cause another problem.
Comment 7 goodguy00@zoho.com 2022-07-12 13:25:26 UTC
did not understand you comment. this user-interface bug is preventing me to update libreoffice at all. i have to stay on 7.3.2.2 (last good version) until this is fixed. because this behavior is against ALL usability. in every other app (be it kwrite, any other editor, firefox, chrome, etc) when i press ctrl-f i get the search dialog AND the focus is with the search field. unlike in the recent versions of LO, where i constantly start typing my search text and that goes into my document instead of the search field. this is extremly annoying and i don't understand, how nobody can understand this misbehavior.

Dear goodguy00@zoho.com,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
