Description:
There are currently no methods for evaluating how difficult a given text will be to understand. I suggest the addition of the Flesch-Kincaid readability tests.

There are 2 Flesch-Kincaid tests:

1. Flesch reading ease, which (as the name suggests) scores the ease of reading a given text on a 100pt scale (e.g. a text has a score of 15.4, which suggests it is very difficult to read).
2. Flesch-Kincaid grade level, which approximates the reading ease of a text to a U.S. grade level (e.g. a text reads at 6th US grade level).

The tests themselves are relatively simple and rely on the manipulation of the total number of syllables, words, and sentences to produce a score. The formulas themselves are easily available (e.g. on wikipedia-- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesch%E2%80%93Kincaid_readability_tests ).

These are imperfect tools, but useful nevertheless for tailoring the level of text to different audiences; and these are tools of wide use in the US school system, parts of the US government (at all levels) and industry.

Flesch-Kincaid stats are features that can be found in most word processors, as well as other venues for text creation (e.g. in wordpress). Feature parity is of relevance for professional uses.

The obvious limitation of Flesch-Kincaid is that it is of use only for the English language. There could be a benefit to evaluating the inclusion of readability tests for other languages (like the Fernández-Huerta index for Spanish, the Kandel-Moles index for French or the Franchina-Vacca index for Italian), all of which are immplemented as variations of the calculation of the Flesch-Kincaid.

I would be happy to support however possible the evaluation of a feature for English as a starting point; or to support the assessment of feasibility (and desirability) of deploying readability tests for a wider range of languages.
