Description: Most of the big data I work with fits within 100 columns; but has to be split to fit within 1M rows. It sure would be awesome to be able to choose Calc's XY settings: 1048576 x 1024, 2097152 x 512, 4194304 x 256, 8388608 x 128, 16777216 x 64 I really could use the last two configurations. Each adds up to 1,073,741,824 cells, so no change there... If such a feature is in alpha; I have data to test it... Actual Results: Why is this field require for enhancement? Expected Results: Why is this field require for enhancement? Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Why is this field require for enhancement?
I don't understand you workflow. What hinders you do use n x m cells?
I don't understand "n x m" -- are you implying this feature is already available? If so, I haven't found it... We have lots of data which produces 5M to 12M+ rows by up to 90-100 columns. Calc only allows 1M rows; so our data doesn't fit. I'm proposing a way to re-arrange the same 1Billion cells into different configurations so that we can use more of the available cells. Currently, we're using up to 100 columns which means 90%+ of the available cells can't be used. I should mention that my team uses filters extensively, so breaking up say 90 columns into multiple sheets (or multiple sets of columns on the same sheet) doesn't help. If this feature was available; we would likely leave Calc set to 16M rows by 128 columns. I am proposing a more universal Calc. Even more universal would also allow R/2x2C, R/4x4C, ... :) Even better, in a multi-sheet file, we could use: sheet1: 8RxC/8 or 16RxC/16 sheet2: RxC or another. ... If the total file size was limited to max 1B cells; that would be adequate... It's the current fixed 1Mx1024 that restricts us. Hope this helps...
AFAIK LibreOffice Calc has a limit of 1,048,576 rows regardless if you reduce the number of columns.
(In reply to Rafael Lima from comment #3) > AFAIK LibreOffice Calc has a limit of 1,048,576 rows regardless if you > reduce the number of columns. Precisely! That's the issue this enhancement request is addressing.
Activating Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Advanced - Enable experimental features. You can activate Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice Calc/Defaults - Enable very large spreadsheets. At least since versions 7.3
Couldn't find a ticket for the jumbo sheet itself (but a META ticket for remaining issues). WFMs for bug 133880 and bug 134362 could be DUP too. Bug 50916 requested "Allow more than 1024 columns in calc" (coming in 7.4). Feel free to reopen if you are aware of the feature and the question is about something different. UX-wise I recommend to use specialized software for large data sets, for example R.
