When open a file after selecting Libreoffice Calc, Writer, Draw... or when you are working with one of these components, the type of files preselected in the dropdown adn shown is "All files". If you select Calc from the program menu, for example, you will normally use a spreadsheet; same for Writer and text document. If you are working with Writer and select to open a document the usual is open other text document. It would be an improvement to have, in the open dialog, preselected the files type according with the component used.If you want to use other type there is no extra cost for the user as a selection of file type is also needed. Thanks.
Sounds an interest topic for discussion. Indeed, currently clicking "Open" will open a file picker with "All files" being shown. Maybe this could be improved. I'm CCing the UX team.
This issue is reported repeatedly with different aspects. For example * bug 56696 No option to make recent documents list show items for just the currently active LibO module * bug 69739 There is no option to make File Open by default only show the type of the active document, instead of all file types, * bug 79803 Open file dialog should list files relevant to the open module, * bug 100502 The sequence in the "File Type" listing can be confusing when picking a filter/module to use to import a document Making it a duplicate of bug 69739, which has a controversial discussion. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 69739 ***
