Description thunderbird_1990 2022-09-19 10:58:37 UTC
Description:
I am using Arch Linux with KDE. The version of LibreOffice is 7.4.1.2

LibreOffice applications won't launch at all if they were last closed when their windows were maximised. They can launch otherwise. The Start Center is unaffected and applications can be launched from there, just not from the KDE application menu, nor from command line (e.g., libreoffice --writer). There is no icon on the KDE task bar when the bug occurs, but the application is running in the background (i.e., soffice.bin and oosplash can be seen in the System Monitor).

I traced the bug to ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/registrymodifications.xcu. Some lines contain ooSetupFactoryWindowAttributes. I realised that applications can launch normally (e.g., from the KDE application menu) if those lines are manually deleted, but those lines will be added/changed if the applications are closed when maximised, therefore breaking stuffs again.

Resetting the UseProfile cannot fix the bug because ooSetupFactoryWindowAttributes will be added to registrymodifications.xcu.

This bug is specific to each LibreOffice component, because they have separate
ooSetupFactoryWindowAttributes.

Seems to be related to bug 150236, but the exact symptom is different (e.g., no icon on the KDE task bar at all). Unclear if this is a KDE bug or a LibreOffice one.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have the latest versions of KDE and LibreOffice
2. Launch a LibreOffice application (but not from the Start Center)
3. Maximise the window
4. Close the application
5. Attempt to launch the same application

Actual Results:
The application fails to visually show up, although soffice.bin and oosplash are running in the background

Expected Results:
The application shows up

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:

This is a duplicate of bug 150856.

This has already been fixed and the fix will be available in 7.4.2.

Persists with a fresh profile? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

Creating a fresh profile (using version 7.4.2.3) did solve the problem.

I should have done that before reopening the issue. Closing it.
