See attached video for more details.

Suppose you have a Text Box (or a shape with text inside). Now follow these steps:
1) Select the Text Box (or shape) so that only the object is selected and the cursor is not blinking for text editing. In the video I clicked the Text Box and after the cursor started blinking, I pressed Esc
2) Place the mouse pointer over the text box
3) Press F2 to start editing the text; do not press any other keys
4) Now move the mouse
5) Notice the text will be selected when you move the mouse; here, moving the mouse should have no effect. We should only have the text cursor available for editing and moving the mouse should not select anything
6) Now click outside the text box
7) From now on, each time you click the slide a new text box will be created; this shouldn't happen

I have been experiencing this bug for a long time, but it was hard to figure out how to reproduce it. The key to reproduce this bug is to have the mouse over the text box when F2 is pressed. If the mouse is not over the text box, then all is ok.

This bug is fully reproducible in "gen" and "kf5".

In gtk3 the issues in steps (6) and (7) do not happen (the multiple creation of text boxes).

Repro using Version: 7.4.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 3c58a8f3a960df8bc8fd77b461821e42c061c5f0
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

It is important that the cursor is not only over the text box, but also over the text itself (so that it turns into a I shape) to repro. Pressing F2 when the mouse cursor is over the box, but outside of the text (e.g., in the bottom part) would not trigger it.

Also repro using OOo 3.2.0.

Dear Rafael Lima,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa
