Would be useful to have a gallery "Favourites", that is empty by default. It should be possible to add a file from an existing gallery to "Favourites" with option in context menu.
There is only one Gallery in the UI. This Gallery has several predefined "themes" and you can create as much new themes as you like. Which problem cannot be solved with this existing feature?

Which problem > cannot be solved with this existing feature? There are some icons, that I use often. Would be nice, if I could collect them in a theme called "Favourites". As a workaround I can insert an icon from a gallery, save that and add it to my Favourite gallery. But it would me more useful, if I could do this with context menu.
You want this: (1) LibreOffice installation adds a special Gallery theme "personal favorites", which will be stored in your user profile and is empty in the beginning. This theme shall be always at the top of the list of themes in the Gallery. (2) LibreOffice provides an entry "Add to 'personal favorites'" in the context menu of items in other themes, which will copy that item to the "personal favorites" theme. Do I get it right?
The current workflow is this: (1) Create a new theme "_Favorites". (Underscore for to get it listed at top) (2) Add at least one item to it, e.g. by dragging from a document or by using the Files tab in the properties dialog of the theme. (3) From the context menu of the item, which you want to add to your "_Favorites", chose entry "Copy". (4) From the context menu of an item already in your "_Favorites" theme chose entry "Paste". Repeat (3)(4) for each item you want to add to your "_Favorites" theme. The fact, that you need an existing item to be able to paste, is not nice.

We discussed the topic in the design meeting. While the current workflow allows to create a special category, the Gallery management is in general very inconvenient and needs improvement. The concept of favorites is widely used and could be established in parallel. This should not block improvements to the Gallery management. The "Favorites" (virtual) category would be shown on top of the list, perhaps separated via horizontal ruler. Copying items here would be possible per context menu on any item in the Gallery. Users cannot rename/delete the Favorites category neither manage it. Manually creating a category with the same name would end up in "Favorites 1" (as we have today). Drag and drop into this special category would not be allowed.
