Description devilfelix 2022-12-01 17:03:10 UTC
Description:
after a pivot table is created, and the user wants to sort the values ascending or descending, the table shape does not adjust the visuals, the frame/borders sort as well with the cells, and there fore its not good looking visually. its a cosmetic problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.put data and create a pivot table
2.try to order the values in descending order
3.see the frame and borders for the cells and the table.

Actual Results:
table loss the entire formatting/borders setup, while the cells mantains it and therefore are affected by the sorting operation,

Expected Results:
table formatting should keep the borders setup after sorting operation

Reproducible: Always

An image serves for nothing to reproduce the reported issue.

Please attach an ods sample file, an explain step by step how you do the sort.

I guess you are trying to sort with the general sort of calc, not with the pivot table properties.

Maybe it doesn't work exactly the same in calc and excel, because calc always restart the format of the PT every time it is updated.

But you have an option to update the PT based on result.
While in PT, Right-click - Properties - Double-click on Row field 'Description' - Options - Sort by 'Sum Amount' - Descending - Ok - Ok - Ok.

Got it, this is indeed the answer to the problem

HOWEVER...its too complex, too many steps, go inside this, that, clic, etc.
it should be more agile, simpler.

hope you can incorporate the feedback into the dev discussions.

many thanks for all the support.

Then please do a new report as enhancement, explain in it how do you expect it can work.
