Description mohammadreza shahedi 2023-01-26 18:45:12 UTC
Description:
Hello, excuse me, I use Linux Ubuntu 18.04.6 and LibreOffice 7.4.0.3, in LibreOffice Impress i wanted to embed the fonts inside the document, so i check "Embed fonts in the document" from 'File/Properties.../Fonts/Font Embedding'.

original file size on a document was 346 KB and then it is about 37.7 MB, and then i check "Only embed fonts that are used in documents" for decrease file size and then it became 36.7 MB, but the size of the fonts used in the document should not be more than 3 MB!

More interesting is that by unchecking "Asian fonts", the file size became about 3.4 MB!

I don't think there is even an "Asian font" is used in my document!

Please pay attention to video which exist in attachment.

Of course, i don't sure this is a bug, but in my opinion this is not normal.

Thank you.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Check "Embed fonts in the document" from 'File/Properties.../Fonts/Font Embedding' without "Only embed fonts that are used in documents"
2. Check all options (including "Asian fonts").
3. Check all options except option "Asian fonts".
4. Compare the document size in the previous steps with the original document size and size of fonts (document + fonts).

Actual Results:
After embedding fonts (check all options including "Asian fonts"), the document has a unreasonable size. (the file size increases much more than the size of the fonts.)

Expected Results:
After embedding fonts, the document should has a reasonable size.

Reproducible: Always

What kind of font is in the third page, 'IRTitr'?
Comment 5 mohammadreza shahedi 2023-01-27 06:41:45 UTC
Hi, it is a heavy Persian font for title and heading, First it was "B Titr" from "B series" that was made by "Borna Rayaneh"(http://www.bornaray.com) and then became "IRTitr" from "IR series", that has some enhancements, and was modified by "parwiniha"(https://parwiniha.ir).

ODF file format are zip files, you can open the file with the compress program like 7-zip and see what folder change their size, to see where the increment happens.

Hi, Thanks.
I did it and found that when "Embed fonts in the document" option is enabled, the fonts are also saved in the archive, when option "Only embed fonts that are used in documents" is enabled (and "Asian fonts" is disabled), only the fonts used in the document are saved, but when "Asian fonts" option is also enabled, It seems that "Only embed fonts that are used in documents" option is ignored, because two fonts are saved in the archive, which are not really used in the document!

Please watch the attached video, and pay attention to the image that compares the size of the archives.

Thank you.
