Description Ben Opp 2023-02-17 23:10:02 UTC
Description:
When inserting Emojis in a text document in Writer or a text box in Draw, and exporting it to a PDF, Emojis are missing from the PDF

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open new document in LO Writer
2. Insert some Emojis using the Emojis picker from Insert tab (in Tabbed UI - in the Standard UI, Emojis are actually not available through the Insert menu). The font used is EmojiOne Color.
3. File > Export as PDF

Actual Results:
There are no Emojis in the PDF

Expected Results:
Emojis should be rendered in the output file

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
When printing the file instead of exporting to PDF, the result is the same, the printout has no Emojis. I suspect it may be in fact the same issue.

I have found duplicates of this exact bug:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129523
but it's marked as resolved with the instructions to open a new one if found again - so here it is, happening again.

EmojiOne Color is an OpenType-SVG font, we don't currently support such fonts in PDF export. I suggest you use other fonts like Noto Color Emoji, which are supported starting from LibreOffice 7.5.0.
