Description chris64 2023-02-19 19:52:57 UTC
Description:
I create a password protected sheet with excel.
I open the sheet with Calc 7.4.5.
Calc asks for the password.
When the password is provided Calc open the sheet but all cells are protected.
When using tools->protect sheet, a window opens, the line 'protect this sheet' is checked.
When unchecking the ok button is inactive.
impossible to input data in a cell. Sometimes got the window "Protected cells can not be modified.", sometimes nothing happens.
The sheet still works well with excel.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.see description
2.
3.

Actual Results:
sheet is locked.
Unable to input data in cells

Expected Results:
After providing the password, the user should be able to modify the sheet.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The same spreadsheet opened with no problem in previous LO version.

Please provide a sample file.
Comment 2 chris64 2023-02-20 20:51:24 UTC
I can't send the spreadsheet not working for security reasons because it is a list of sites with id and password.

I was not able to get the same effect with another file.

After different tests, the problem disappeared when changing the password.

Then I consider my problem solved even if the case is weird.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If it happens again with a less sensitive file, I will come back to you.

Thanks

I can't reproduce with the attached file, with
Version: 7.5.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fcbaee479e84c6cd81291587d2ee68cba099e129
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded

The sheet it's not protected, the same than Excel.
Comment 6 chris64 2023-03-03 17:11:01 UTC
Have you tried to close the document and reopen it.

As i said first opening is ok and after some close - open it is locked.

I do not know if it is useful but I am on linux and the file is on a ntfs disk because a windows pc can access it.

If nobody else has reported this, maybe something is wrong with my system.

Thanks for your time.

Chris

Please note that under Windows, when the password is requested, a path is shown. This path might have some incompatibility under Linux (because of filesystem, or some other reason).

IDK whether there is a bug or not, but IMHO this should be left as UNCONFIRMED until someone can actually replicate the same scenario and steps as in comment 6, and either confirm it or not.

@Miguel, respectfully, you should not had closed this as WORKSFORME, IMHO. You are testing under Windows, and the report says LINUX. If you agree, please reopen it, so someone with a similar context as the OP can try and test it.
Comment 8 m_a_riosv 2023-03-03 20:55:31 UTC
After close and reopening, non issue.

Okey @ady, unconfirmed.
Comment 9 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2023-03-05 21:29:37 UTC
I could not reproduce with:

Version: 7.4.5.1 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 9c0871452b3918c1019dde9bfac75448afc4b57f
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Chris, can you please share the version info copied from Help > About LibreOffice?

You say:
> "As i said first opening is ok and after some close - open it is locked."
Do you mean that you edit the file for a while and it suddenly locks the sheet, or that you have to close-reopen several time until the issue arises?

Hi, I made new testings, may be it gives some more clarity :
1- open calc
2- input a few data
3- save as on a ntfs disk with password
4- close calc
5- calc closes immediately but the mouse pointer is a rolling spinner for a long time (I guess saving process is not complete)
5- if I re-open the file before the rolling spinner has stopped, the file opens but no possible input.
6- after this despite closing and opening, impossible to add/modify data

Comment 12 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2023-03-16 08:35:13 UTC
I just tested following the steps in comment 10, on an NTFS disk, starting from scratch and using attachment 185709 [details], and I still could not reproduce. No slowness in saving.
I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue with the disk in question.

Version: 7.4.6.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 5b1f5509c2decdade7fda905e3e1429a67acd63d
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Can you please also test version 7.5.1.2?

Thank you
Comment 13 chris64 2023-03-16 10:32:59 UTC
Thank you for your time.
I don't think it is a hardware issue as it is related to saving with a password and it works fine when there is no password.
I'll do some more research so I can build a repeatable case and get back to you. In the meantime, the status should probably be unconfirmed.
Comment 14 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2023-03-18 08:45:00 UTC
Raal marked as "works for me", I assume because of how elusive it is even to you, but please mark back to "unconfirmed" if you can provide useful steps / test documents.
