Description Tuomas Hietala 2023-03-22 16:18:19 UTC
Description:
The following tip-of-the-day sentence is incomplete:
"Writer helps you to make backups: with File ▸ Save a Copy you create a new document continuing to work on the original."

At a minimum, this should be: ... "while continuing to work on the original".

However, "create a new document" might be a bit confusing as well, because normally creating a new document in LO means starting from a blank slate (or a template).

Also, do we want to promote the idea that manually saving multiple copies, likely to the same drive and directory, qualifies as backups?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See https://translations.documentfoundation.org/translate/libo_ui-master/cuimessages/en/?checksum=105401d9cac6ee6e

Actual Results:
The sentence is incomplete and possibly confusing.

Expected Results:
The sentence is grammatically correct and communicates the meaning clearly.

Reproducible: Always

You can make a backup easy with Writer. Simply select File - Save a Copy to keep a copy of your document while still being able to work on the original.

OR

With Writer, making a backup of your document is simple. Just use the "Save a Copy" option in the File menu to create a copy of your work while still being able to edit the original.

OR

Back up your document with ease using Writer. Select "Save a Copy" from the File menu to create a duplicate while continuing to work on the original.

OR

Create a backup of your document in Writer by selecting File - "Save a Copy" and continue editing the original.

The last one seems simpler/better.
