Description Hugh Stewart 2023-03-24 19:08:22 UTC
Description:
The spelling "centre" is marked as a mis-spell. This is the way that the word is spelled in UK English.
Even though my language is set to English (UK) the spellcheck automatically uses English (USA)*, even when I correct it to use English (UK) it still thinks the word "centre" is wrong.
* - This is another bug that I will raise on a separate ticket.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set language to English (UK)
2.type the work "centre"
3.run spellcheck

Actual Results:
1st attempt: Nothing because I have added the work "centre" into the English (UK) dictionary - this is the easy workaround.
2nd attempt: On removing the word "centre" from the added dictionary words I got the same result as before I added the word

Expected Results:
As expected

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Known the way the we spell "centre" in the UK.

Could you upgrade to last stable LO version 7.4.6 + apply https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile and give a new try?

@Hugh,

As of LO 7.2 (the version you reported with), "centre" is recognized correctly in English (UK) in Calc. The real question is why / how you are setting "the language" to UK. In Calc, there are several items that could be referred to as "language". This is the part that we should clarify.

Please provide exact steps about how exactly you define "set to English (UK)".

No feedback after 6 months, let's put this one to WFM.

Hugh: don't hesitate to reopen this tracker if you still reproduce this.
In this last case, please provide info ask demanded in comment 3.
