Description Dave Albiston 2023-04-04 09:31:41 UTC
The dialog should allow the name of the tab to be specified when adding from a file.

At the moment the dialog allows the name of the sheet to be specified for a new sheet but not one inserted from file.

You can select which sheet you want to import.

I think the functionality is available, see screenshot. PLease try to describe better what you mean. Thank you.

Hi Thank you for the response.

If I insert a new sheet the dialog allows the name to be specified.

When adding a sheet from file, I select the file but in the dialog the new sheet is given a default name e.g Sheet3. I cannot change this. So I have to add the new sheet then rename it.

Hop that helps.

IOW, request for adding (to the import dialog) the possibility to set a (new) name for the to-be-imported worksheet, different than the name it is using in the other file, instead of having to first import the worksheet with the same name and then rename it as a second (separate, independent) step/action.

IMHO, RFE with Minor importance (but I'll leave others to set it, or not).

That's correct. It has bothered me for years.

The dialog has an edit for the name of the new sheet but it is disabled when inserting a sheet from file.

Thank you, Dave. This has already been suggested in bug 67479.
