Description peter josvai 2023-04-14 13:20:58 UTC
hi,

it would be great to see the number of pages NOT including the endnotes...

I could bring up several benefits and pro arguments,
but maybe it is not necessary at all :)

It would be misleading, however, if the "user" wasn't aware that the number doesn't include the endnotes...

So, some indication is necessary..
In the present format, "Pages 1 and 2 of 15" should not be stuffed any further, I think...
instead, it could be "Pages 1 and 2" ... and in the next section (at words and characters) "5 pages w/out e.n."

and characters could be abbreviated as "chars"

I don't support that idea, but let's ask design-team.

Some of my concerns: Why only without endnotes? Why not without title page, table of contents, ... Would end in a mess

cc: Design-Team for further input and decision

The idea of bug 153259 is to have a flag on the page style whether or not add it to the page count. The most obvious reason is to suppress endnotes and title.
