Created attachment 186912 [details] Underlined text highlighted After selecting areas for redaction in 'Writer' and then click on OK the Draw module launches showing previews of redacted text but it also shows unintended underlined text being highlighted. This happens whether the underlining was created in Word or Writer. It also happens whether the file is in odt or docx format.
Created attachment 186913 [details] No underlined text
Please attach the original .odt document so that we can check there is no unexpected configuration in the formatting/styling.
Created attachment 186917 [details] Original ODT text file with underlining
Steps: 1. Open attachment 186917 [details] 2. Tools - Redact 3. In the Draw instance, draw a filled rectangle covering the content 4. Right-click rectangle - Arrange - Send to back Now you see the white background for the underlined text. Redaction was introduced in 6.3 and I see this already in 6.3 bibisect repo. Arch Linux 64-bit, X11 Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: b1568a4cd8b439de19aab2bfe5f8f8465e4dc6af CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.3; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb) Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Built on 10 May 2023
The white background appears over underlined text as soon as Draw launches after selecting Tools>Redact in Writer. This happens before text or block areas for redaction have been selected. Thre is no need to "draw a filled rectangle covering the content" as stated in step 3. It seems that the Draw module is 'seeing' underlined text as highlighted.
(In reply to Ken from comment #5) > Thre is no need to "draw a filled rectangle covering the content" as stated > in step 3. Yes there is a need. As the background is white otherwise, how am I going to see that the underlined parts have a white bg?
My comments are written from a user's point of view and maybe your comments are written from a program writer's perspective? This may be where the difference arises? All I know is that I do not need to draw a rectangle. I simply open the document in Writer and go to Redact it and then the Draw module launches. At this point any underlined text is immediately highlighted without my input. I hope this clarifies what I mean. Thank you.
I have discovered why I see the highlighting of unerlined text when the Draw module launches: - It is because I have the "Document background" color set to a non-white colour. If I stay with the default "White" RGB color of 255 255 255 then all is okay. I see no highlighting, but that does not mean it is not there. It justs blends-in with the white background. My customised "Document background" RGB color is 200 210 200 which is a pale grey/green and this causes the "white" highlighting to stand out. To allow for customised "Document background" colors the highlighting should not happen at all. I hope this helps with fixing the bug. Thank you.
Dear Ken, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
