Description wolfgang.pittroff@gmail.com 2023-05-22 08:52:51 UTC
When an .odp presentation is saved to .pptx and then opened in MS Powerpoint 2007, the MS PPT program does not show the correct slide layout options anymore. The same happens in Softmaker Office 2021 - the slide layout sidebar no longer shows the correct options for new slides or for changing the layout in existing slides.
The problem clearly originates in LibreOffice.
I could reproduce the problem in both Windows and Kubuntu Linux.

The steps to reproduce the bug are:

1. Create a presentation in Impress Version 7.3.7.2

2. Save in native .odp format

3. Open the presentation, then save in .pptx format

4. Open the presentation in .pptx format in either Softmaker Presentations 2021 or MS Powerpoint 2007

[NOTE: I DO NOT HAVE NEWER MS PPT VERSIONS BUT SUSPECT THE PROBLEM WILL ALSO EXIST WITH NEWER VERSIONS]

5. Slide layout options in either program are non-functional (see attached screenshot).

This can be reproduced in Windows or in Linux.

Something in the format description used by Impress prevents the presentation from being fully usable in other programs as the slide layout options are broken.

I saved an empty PPTX file from Impress, opened it in office.com and I can change the slide layouts just fine.
