Description Eyal Rozenberg 2023-06-20 10:54:08 UTC
Use case: I have some pieces of, say, a CSV which I copy and paste from different files into Calc, to process/use.

For every paste, I need to go through the Text Import Dialog, and make the same settings as before. Moreover, if some of my pastes are of single lines - I won't even get the dialog.

The request: Given a columnar range, allow the application of Text Import on the text in those cells, separated by newlines; with the result placed in the (infinite?) range beginning at the top-start cell of the range.

* Allowing this for non-columnar ranges would also be desirable, with an assumption that the columns correspond to different sets of columns in the CSV.

* Access to this function via the menus and/or via right-click menu for a cell or range.

* If we don't have an UNO command for Text Import, I guess I'm asking we create it.

I am unsure how much of this is covered by Data->Text to Columns?

And if I'm not wrong, can be done through:
Menu/Sheets/External links

Covered well enough. Thanks.

If you (or anyone else) believe this functionality merits more exposure - specifically, via the context menu - please reopen.
