Tool bars selected disappear when any spreadheet activity occurs. I can not pinpoint what may be causing this. Specifically, when I activate the Standard and Formatting toolbars, they disappear within a minute of using the spreadsheet.
STR: 1. Menu View > User Interface > Tabbed (not Standard). 2. Menu View > Toolbars > Formatting (set it to display the toolbar) - it could be the Standard toolbar instead, or in addition. The Formatting (and/or Standard) toolbar is displayed. 3. Introduce a new value in whichever cell. The Formatting toolbar immediately disappears. I'm not sure this is really a bug, considering that the UI is not the Standard one. Having said that, it could be considered a valid enhancement request. Also, this is not new for 7.6. It is also happening in older versions (e.g. LO 7.0).
acampbell012, can please confirm that you are using the Tabbed user interface? Somewhat related: bug 148123. Adding UX/Design team to CC because Ady added needsUXEval.
View was standard, not tabbed. Standard and formatting toolbars were the only ones active Safe mode did not resolve the issue, however; following the instructions for deleting and recreating the profile folder resolved the issue. Problem did not exist in any earlier versions I had installed.
Considering the difficulties to recreate this problem (as described in comment 3), there are 2 possibilities: _ convert this report into an enhancement request for UI other than Standard (as per comment 1); or, _ close this report as insufficient data (in order to replicate the original issue, with no reporter's fault, of course).
OK, let's remove UX/Design team from CC, and close as "worksforme" as it's unlikely we'll identify what was wrong with that profile. If you manage to reproduce again, please set back to "unconfirmed" and provide further information. Thank you both!
Running Libreoffice 24.2.5.2 (X86_64) with threads CPU =4 ; Linux 6.6 interface = default UI render ; language = fr-FR Calc = threaded This describes my problem, but on Linux. So I changed the OS to all. It is a UI problem It didn't exist initially in Libreoffice, but has been occuring for quite a while. Tool bars used to be static for me. It makes it difficult to use libreoffice if doing a lot of formatting, especially on a large spreadsheet. I'm not sure what is meant by "tabbed interface". There are a number of pages, selectable on the bottom line. I've rarely used libreoffice with only one page. It applies to both embedded & detached tool bars. I don't know if someone programming libreoffice had the idea that tool bars should disappear, but posts on the internet from some other users say that they don't have the problem. This makes me want to find another spreadsheet program. Since it is clearly a user interface problem, that group should be on the CC. They are the only ones who can solve it. I would expect that they would have suggestions of tests to help solve the problem. Another factor which might be related : Once a detached tool bar is placed, it can no longer be moved. Undefining & redefining it still puts it in the same location. After editing the tool bar & unselecting it, sometimes I am able to put it in a new location when it is reselected, but then it gets frozen at the new location. Let me know if I should file a separate bug for this other factor.
