Description: A text box within a chart cannot be moved. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a Chart (e.g. XY, lines only). 2. Select the Chart (left mouse button). 3. Under "Draw", click on the Text Box icon, to insert a text box. Alternatively, ""Ïnsert" tab, "Text Box". 4. Enter text. 5. Attempt to select, then move or rotate text box... Actual Results: - Cannot move or rotate text box: For example, "Format" tab, "Text Box and Shape >" has "Position and Size..." greyed out. Expected Results: Per User Guide, should have been able to move the Text Box. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I was able to "generate a working Text Box", by 1. Inserting a rectangle (in the Chart). 2. Insert a Text Box inside the rectangle. ...it seems that the combination has the normal characteristics of a Text Box move, rotate, etc. P.S.1: I did not reset my profile. P.S.2: file saved as *.xls
Created attachment 190012 [details] XLS file. Simple XY Charts, with Text Boxes Top chart is with simple "insert text box" (cannot move text box) Bottom chart makes use of text boxes within rectangles (works OK) Note: To test, ungroup first.
Hi, Jean, please let the bug in unconfirmed status, until someone else confirm it. Thanks.
Created attachment 190021 [details] Screenshow, editing the text box. Maybe I have misunderstood something, but seems to work for me After ungroup, I can select (double click) and edit the text boxes.
Edit and move.
I understand Jean's issue is with the chart object's integrated text box (or "text attribute"), which is activated and editable with single-clicking the chart (not entering in Chart edit mode), using Insert > Text Box and clicking on the chart again. An easier way to start adding text is to select the chart and start typing. This kind of text box is easier to access with e.g. a shape object, with a simple double-click. But it's not (as far as I know) possible to rotate that text _relative to the rest of the object_. It is still possible to change some options, like margins and anchor. I think we should mark this as a duplicate of bug 141841, where a solution is discussed to make the feature less confusing, including some potential rewording in bug 141841 comment 10. What do you think, Jean?
