Description: It occurs mostly in Calc. While writing, finger not touching the mouse, the first one to three columns of the spreadsheet disappear to the left, just when I want to paste something. Screenshot not possible, because it gets refreshed before I can shoot. I took a shot from my mobile when it happened partly. Hope to get it uploaded here. In both Calc and Writer performance is jerky, as if the Mac was overloaded. Could be two different issues, as the left-shift in Calc happened in earlier LO versions, just without the delay and jerky performance. In comparison: I pasted text which gave me a headache in Writer into a new Affinity Publisher file - fluid performance, no problem whatsoever. My config: iMac 21.5" 2017, 3GHz Quad-core intel Core i5, Ventura 13.6.3, 16GB RAM libreoffice-7.5.9.2 Pls let me know how to report more - I'm not a programmer. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open new file, create a table 2.happens any time, especially when taking the mouse in my hand after a little pause Actual Results: table shifts left, I miss the cell I wanted to hit. Sometimes graphics update some 15 seconds later, or after the next touch with the cursor or changing the screen scale. Expected Results: normal operation. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: [Information automatically included from LibreOffice] Locale: de Module: SpreadsheetDocument [Information guessed from browser] OS: Mac OS X (All) OS is 64bit: yes
Created attachment 191997 [details] Screenshot LO writer on iMac, when the spreadsheet jumped and jerky screen performance occurred. the moment, when a visible part of the spreadsheet jumped left and the rendering didn't follow whole screen.

Did you start seeing this behavior after installing LibreOffice 7.5.9.2? If yes, the "delay and jerky performance" makes me think that this might be the same bug as tdf#155266. There is a fix for tdf#155266 but, unfortunately, the fix will not be available until the LibreOffice 7.6.5 release. Fortunately, a tester has found a workaround for LibreOffice 7.5.9 and 7.6.4: switch to Skia/Metal rendering. To enable Skia/Metal rendering, do the following steps: 1. Open the Options dialog by selecting the LibreOffice > Preferences menu 2. Select LibreOffice > View in the left panel 3. In the right panel, check the "Use Skia for all rendering" and uncheck "Force Skia software rendering" checkboxes as shown in the following screen snapshot: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=191409 4. Press the "OK" button and restart if prompted Do the above steps improve scrolling performance?

I can definitely confirm, that this improves performance enormously! I re-checked the bug with my Macbook Pro 2012 (good old retina workhorse!), where my mouse takes part of the responsibility, since working with the track pad produces less artefacts. The change to Skia helps a lot. On iMac and MBP. The only drawback is - the preview of my older documents is gone, or better, changed to a yellow square with a few remnants of the original preview here and there. Survivable, definitely easier to cope with than the jerky performance. Thank you!!

About a year ago, several Intel Mac users would see unexpected colors when using Skia/Metal. IIRC, most of those Skia bugs stopped occurring when LibreOffice started using a newer version of Google's Skia software in LibreOffice 7.6. So, it might be worth trying LibreOffice 7.6.4. You will still need to use "switch to Skia/Metal" workaround with LibreOffice 7.6.4 but my hope is that the newer version of Skia fixes the unexpected colors with Skia/Metal on your machine.
Marking this bug as a duplicate of tdf#155266. Feel free to reopen if the workaround stops working. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 155266 ***

Still there are artefacts when writing in Writer, bearable, but annoying. What is this jump from 7.6 to version 24.2??? I'm not sure if this is not a hack of the O.O. website... especially that the German part of the website doesn't mention it so far. It only turns up in the download sector. I love time related stories in cinema movies, but my flux capacitor (for return warranty) is still in development. ;)
