Description John D. Furber 2024-01-24 02:40:21 UTC
Since I updated to Libre Office 7.5.9.2 a few days ago, scrolling in the Calc spreadsheet has been annoyingly jerky, with groups of cells disappearing for a few seconds until I click on a different cell. Then, the missing cells appear. It is distracting and delaying my work so much, that I intend to reinstall the previous version of Libre Office, unless this gets fixed soon.
I have a 2020 MacBookPro Intel running MacOS Ventura 13.6.3.

Thank you for the report.
This is already tracked in bug 158650, please see comments there, in partiular Patrick's suggestions to test more recent versions.
Thank you!

I just wanted to add that the fix for that bug should be included in LibreOffice 7.6.5 and 24.2 (both are planned to be released in February 2024).

In the meantime, a tester found a possible workaround: enable LibreOffice's Skia/Metal rendering option.

To enable Skia/Metal rendering, do the following steps:

1. Open the Options dialog by selecting the LibreOffice > Preferences menu
2. Select LibreOffice > View in the left panel
3. In the right panel, check the "Use Skia for all rendering" and uncheck "Force Skia software rendering" checkboxes as shown in the following screen snapshot:
     https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=191409
4. Press the "OK" button and restart if prompted

Is there any improvement if you enable Skia/Metal rendering?

This problem was solved by following Patrick's Comment # 8.
