Description: I'd like to suggest the addition of table formatting. E.g to allow to format a range of cells as a table and have the header and footer visually distinct as well as excluded from formula like "A:A". The footer also should allow to do a total sum, average, show biggest/smallest element. The table formatting also should allow to filter and sort elements visually. The total row should update when filtering. The header should support multiple levels like the first row is year, the 2nd row is month and the 3rd row is day. Then each row is an item list fetched from e.g. a database. I've tried to pick a meaningful use case for the summary above, the one I actually want to use this for is kinda - well - stupid, please don't judge we have to work with what I got from the regulators. Ok, the actual use case I desperately want this quality of life improvement for is to handle tables like this one without getting insane by the limitations of using a spread sheet application has, e.g. see "Kriterien C5:2020 (Editierbares Format)" at https://www.bsi.bund.de/EN/Themen/Unternehmen-und-Organisationen/Informationen-und-Empfehlungen/Empfehlungen-nach-Angriffszielen/Cloud-Computing/Kriterienkatalog-C5/C5_AktuelleVersion/C5_AktuelleVersion_node.html also the ISO stuff often uses similarly shitty table formats for text, esp. the risk management and iso 27001 stuff https://www.scribd.com/document/129943994/ISO-27001-Compliance-Checklist Steps to Reproduce: 1. Look at the two provided example tables 2. Stay calm and try not to punch your head against/through the table (too much). Actual Results: May not stay calm and the wooden table may break. Expected Results: stay sane Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 7.6.4.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 60(Build:1) CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+wayland) Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US 7.6.4-2 Calc: threaded
Also an additional option should be added that enables the "join cells" option within such tables. These cells should be visually joined but with each of the cells contained in this join having actually the same value underneath. This visual grouping should be done automatically and also re-done after sorting and filtering. Example table: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epyc#Third_generation_Epyc_(Milan) e.g. tables where the values actually apply to each of the cells within the join but instead of showing the value in every cell it is only shown once to make it simpler to view and digest visually.
