Description goalardleon 2024-03-08 11:00:15 UTC
Description:
In the latest version, when a OLE object is inserted, it does'nt work anymore like ancient versions and it's slowering the process to insert formulas.
Now, by default, when you insert a new OLE (by button or shortcut), it sets the cursor and write in the box created and you need to click in the editor to write in it. The problem is that when you write in the little box, you can't do more than multiplications and additions that are very basic things.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Insert an OLE object with shortcut or button in top left menu or toolbar button

Actual Results:
When i insert the OLE object for formulas, it sets the cursor in the little box created and not in the editor that appears down the screen.
Edition options in the little box are nearly inexistent and i need to click in the editor in order to be able to write in it and to work properly in writing my formulas. It wastes much time and is a pointless update (because inexistant edition capacity in the little box) (this last phrase is a bit violent but not made to offend you (devs and other)).

Expected Results:
Expected results are the ones obtained in older updates.
When i type the shortcut or use button, the cursor should be sent directly in the OLE editor and not the little box.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Writing formulas already take time, don't make it longer like that with new updates plz. The ancient system is better and faster.

I can also add that the DMaths extension that permits to write the things that you normally write in editor and then send them directly in an ole object with a shortcut does but with this update. When you transform the text into the formula with the shortcut, it takes the size of the default little box and compress or extend the characters (it does'nt resize the box like it does normall and i'm obligated to double click it in order to go in editor and update the size).

Actually this is intentional, because Math's inline edit mode is now the default. See bug 159989 for more info.

However, you can change this:
1) Open LibreOffice Math (it has to be from the Math app)
2) Go to Tools - Options - LibreOffice Math and then choose Settings
3) Uncheck "Enable visual editing"

This will restore the previous behavior.

such an annoying feature.
If many people complain about it, will it be removed from default (still there but need to activate it)?
If i need to desactivate it at each update, it'll be such a disturbing thing.
