Description triadomaniac 2024-03-17 20:12:22 UTC
Description:
The font of some symbols after they are inserted is different than the font that was selected at the moment the symbol was clicked on to be inserted.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set Liberation Serif as the font.
2.Click 'Insert Special Characters' button.
3.Click on the 'Almost Equal To' sign, or the 'Greek Small Letter Sigma' sign (there may be more examples).
4. Highlight just the symbol which appears.
5. Notice that the font for the highlighted symbol is not Liberation Serif, but Liberation Sans instead.
6. Follow the same steps with the symbol 'pi' and notice that there is no issue.

Actual Results:
The font of the symbol after insertion is different than the font that was selected when the symbol was inserted.

Expected Results:
The font of the symbol after insertion should be the same as the font that was selected when the symbol was inserted.

Reproducible: Always

Can't reproduce in:

Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Inserting any of those sticks to Liberation Serif.

Looking at your version, note that it includes a fix for bug 159572/ bug 155957 (which also resolves an inconsistency between the toolbar dropdown and the dialog). This allows having e.g. the same character in different fonts in the Recent or Favourite special characters.

So you might have recent of favourite characters that were applied using a specific font, and now LibreOffice remembers that?
Can you please clarify if you were using recent / favourite special characters? Otherwise, please clarify the steps.

(And if that behaviour is not ideal in your opinion, please have a look at bug 155274, which suggests allowing to choose.)

Apologies Stephane,

You are correct that the behaviour occurs when I choose from the favourites. So it's actually a feature and not a bug, and I can resolve my issue by removing the stored favourite and reinputting it in the favourites category under the correct font.

Thanks for checking, no need to apologise :)
Let's close as "not a bug" then.
