Created attachment 194546 [details] Wireshark traces taken during opening of same file with LibreOffice and MS Excel The same ODS file, shared over the same AFP network share, using the same VPN client session, under the same load conditions, takes three times as long to open from LibreOffice than from MS Excel. Test file is a simple 72 KB ODS file created in LibreOffice Calc. Wireshark traces captured during the opening of the file using LibreOffice VS MS Excel reveals that LibreOffice uses approximately 3 times as many packets and goes through approximately 3 times as many TCP sequences than MS Excel does to open the exact same file, resulting in the operation taking approximately three times as long (20 seconds VS 7 seconds). Wireshark trace files (each one focusing on the relevant TCP stream) are attached. Consistently similar results are observed over a large population of files, over a number of different network shares located in different datacenters.
Michael: since you had worked on file on network share part with the use of Curl in LO, thought you might be interested in this one. Of course, don't hesitate to uncc if I'm wrong.
