Description Jorge Lopes 2024-07-17 16:24:30 UTC
Description:
Cells with validation rules do not allow manual input of values

All spreadsheets that worked well in Calc (7.6.7) no longer work in version 24. In the validation box, the option 'show error message when invalid values are entered' no longer works.

I can only enter data in cells with validation if I choose 'show error message when invalid values are entered' and 'warning'.

Changing the validation rules for hundreds of cells is not an option.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a validation rule for a cell.
2.In the validation rules - choose not to 'show error message when invalid values are entered
3.enter data into the cell (not using the drop-down menu)

Actual Results:
No value is written in the cell, and it moves to the next cell

Expected Results:
To accept the entered values without any warning, even if they do not fall within the validation rule criteria.

Reproducible: Always

I agree that the new behavior is unacceptable, breaking not only the older behavior but also old spreadsheet files (ods, xlsx, xls) and compatibility with other spreadsheet tools that still use the prior behavior (and will continue to do so).

These reports will continue to show up, until developers with relevant experience will revert tdf#159595. The revert has been requested before more than once by multiple users, so I am setting this as dupe of tdf#160096.
