Description: Since I'm blind I use NVDA on Windows. When opening a file with protected cells, which can/may not be unprotected right now, it's not possible for me to select them using arrow key navigation. However, even though editing them is not possible, selecting them for just checking the content using the arrow keys would be essential anyway. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a file in Calc which has one or more protected cells 2. Press the arrow keys to navigate to the corresponding cells Actual Results: Protected cells cannot be selected, making it impossible for the screenreader user to read the content. Expected Results: Protected cells should be read-only, but selecting them needs to work as normal. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 24.2.4.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 51a6219feb6075d9a4c46691dcfe0cd9c4fff3c2 CPU threads: 6; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: de-DE Calc: CL threaded

Whether cells can be selected or not is configurable when enabling protection for the sheet. "Allow all users of this sheet to:" defaults to allowing selecting protected cells. So if this doesn't work for your particular case, it seems that the person who protected the sheet explicitly disabled that. I suggest to ask them to allow this. I'm closing this ticket for now as NOTABUG, since it seems that this generally works as expected. (Selecting cells is possible unless explicitly disabled.) In case you have this issue in cases where selecting has not explicitly been disabled, please reopen and provide more details (in particular, a sample file).
